Welcome
NuSkills Learning and Development is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO). We are managed by Communities@Work, a not for profit community organisation which coordinates services from 35 locations, including 12 Child Care and Education Centres.
We deliver training to people working in Youth Work, Aged Care, Children's Services, Early Childhood and School Age Care. We also provide intensive parenting skills courses for Foster Carers and parents. Our courses include qualifications, professional development and community education.
In September 2011 we were recognised in our industry as best in class when we won the ACT Training Excellence Award in the category of Small Training Organisation. Well done team and thank you to all our students and trainees. It's about you, always!
NuSkills understands that training needs are as unique as the student or organisation that requires them. This is why we focus on designing an individual training program for each student or organisation.
- We discuss with you your goals and which qualifications will help you get there.
- We look at and assess your existing skills and competencies which can be credited toward your qualification.
- We discuss what study methods suit you, your lifestyle and your organisation: distance learning, classroom, workplace projects and combinations of these.
Mission: to deliver training of social value and practical benefit
Vision: to be the RTO of choice for Community & Children's Services in the ACT and surrounding region

Learn while you earn
Many of our clients utilise our "learn while you earn" approach - where you can do your training and get your qualification while working.
Partnerships
Partnerships are an important part of how we do business. We work with organisations with a training need and collaboratively develop solutions to their needs.
We partner with the Migrant and Refugee Settlement Services (MARSS). This partnership, in addition to providing MARSS with training services, is providing our trainees with access to professional English tutors and home study assistance.
We also partner with Koomarri, the ACT Department of Disability, Housing and Community Services, Marymead Child and Family Centre, Barnardos, Calvary Hospital, Ablaze Total Solutions, Learning Options, and Impact Learning and Development. And the list goes on and on. After all, we don't know everything!

Traineeships and funding assistance for training
A traineeship allows an employee to gain qualifications while employed. Many employers are also eligible for financial incentives when staff undertake a traineeship.
Where a student is not eligible for a traineeship, NuSkills may be able to access other Government funding as a contribution toward the cost of the student's training with us.
